He is the Allama, Imam Mar'i bin Yusuf bin Abi Bakr al-Karmi; al-Maqdisi, then al-Qahiri, al-Azhari. One of the senior Hanbali scholars of the 11th Hijri century. He was born in the city of "Tulkarm" in Palestine, then traveled to Egypt to seek knowledge and settled at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif. He excelled in Fiqh, Usul (Principles), History, and Literature, and held the position of Sheikh of Al-Azhar in his time.

He was renowned for his superior ability to summarize and edit. Among his most famous works, which traveled far and wide, is the text "Dalil al-Talib li-Nayl al-Matalib", considered one of the most important texts for Fatwa among later scholars, and the book "Ghayat al-Muntaha". He passed away - may Allah have mercy on him - in Egypt in the year (1033 AH).
